3 Pieces Every Girl’s Closet Needs

-Lets talk about work attire. Deciding what to wear has been my biggest challenge lately. I always tend to go for comfort above all else. Sometimes though, I like to dress it up. Personally, I think you need to dress it up every once in awhile to boost your mood and confidence.

However, business casual can be tricky. You don’t want to be too casual and sometimes you don’t want to be all business. That’s why I have found that owning these three staple pieces are essential. -What are they you ask? A blazer, A high waisted skirt, A cute tank. You can dress each piece up or down, and together they can make a statement.

{  Blazer: Here  |  Tank: Here    |   Skirt: Here    }

I love this color tank so much I actually have this color in three other shirts I own! Plus, I love black so a pop of color is needed every now and then. Everything you see here is from Express. I was able to find the same blazer and skirt, however the tank is different.

-Each piece is sort of affordable – Lol. BUT keep in mind it can all be worn separately to make different outfits/looks. If you wanted a more casual look for a Friday you could replace the skirt with a nice pair of jeans & booties!

Spring is right around the corner so I’ll be sharing more skirts and dresses! I’ve yet to wear either with tennis shows, however I want to try it out! Maybe we can do it together and share our looks!

Get To Know Me!

Hi! I’m Tara! I wanted to jump on here and properly introduce myself. I’ve noticed so many new faces, and a lot of you have been asking questions to get to know me better (which I love! ) so I figured I’d spill some details about myself to answer everyone’s questions. -Which to be honest, talking about myself feels kind of weird, haha.

I like sharing information about products, places, etc. & determining how much of my personal life to keep to myself or share is a new balancing experience for me. 🙂 So as I answer all your questions I’ll be an open book & I hope you enjoy!

Always, – Tara

About Yours Truly

How old are you? I’m 32

Do you have any siblings? Yes! I have an older sister. Where are all my youngest siblings at?!! -Lol. We are 8 1/2 years apart BUT you honestly wouldn’t know it! We have always been really close.

What other hobbies besides blogging do you have? Singing really loudly with headphones in! -Haha. I love music & it doesn’t matter what you put on, I will sing along. Growing up I was the one my friends would always go to for information like “what’s the name of this song?’ or “who is this singing”. To be honest, I’m kind of slipping now that I’m older, but that’s what Google is for, right?!  I also took vocal lessons as a teenager & into adulthood, so needless to say my fiancé gets front row seats when I clean the house!

What’s your real job? Currently I work in sales. To be more specific, I work in the insurance world. How I got into it, I really don’t know- Lol. I went to school first for broadcast/radio and went back for my bachelors in public relations. I’m still new to the sales gig, only been doing it for a year. Before that I bartended for 7 years!

How did you meet your fiancé & how long have you been together? – I met Ryan through mutual friends. His best friend is married to one of my besties that I used to bartend with. The first time we met in person was at a friends house for a scary movie night! ( I know, right?) It was awkward because we knew everyone was trying to hook us up, but it worked out! -Haha. We’ve been together for 5 years now and will be married this September!

You still haven’t shared your wedding location, where will it be? – Hmm. I think I still want  to keep it a secret! Even though I have given many hints on my insta stories! You’ll just have to keep your eyes out!

How long have you been blogging? What made you want to do it? – I have been blogging for 7 months now. It’s exciting and challenging! If you’ve been following me for awhile now, I’m sorry! You are seeing all the good with the bad, but hey that’s how we learn and grow!

I actually used to have my own website years ago for music/radio purposes. I knew I always wanted to be creative and share things with people, I just didn’t know where to start. So one day after thinking about creating my blog, I just did it!

How many dogs do you have? I have two! Henry is our 3 year old lab, and Beamer is our 9 year old corgi! If I could I would get another one!

Have you always lived in Michigan? Yes. I always said when I was younger I was moving out of state, but I think I like it here now, -lol.

Do you have any kids? No I do not. Might do a post on this topic.

Any tips for someone wanting to start a blog? I am still learning myself, but I will say you have to be YOURSELF! Don’t try and do what everyone else is doing, certain things don’t work for everyone. You also have to be a little patience. You won’t instantly get thousands of followers, likes, or comments. If you do great! but it always surprises me when people want instant gratification. Just keep working hard and you will reach your goals! Be positive!

In Masking We Love

I’ve been using Leahlani’s Mermaid Mask for four weeks now, two times a week and I absolutely love it! I’ll admit, I never got into masking or skin care products before. As I got older, however, I realized it’s not only super beneficial for my skin, but I also really enjoy the me time and doing something for myself.

What first caught my attention with Leahlani’s products is that they are all natural! If you follow them on Instagram you will fall in love with not only the beauty that they live in, but the beauty in their products!

“Leahlani Skincare is a Hawaii based artisanal skincare line made from fresh Hawaiian nectars, potent and vibrant botanical actives and luxurious, tropical beauty oils. Our products are blended fresh weekly in intimate batches in our private studio on the lush North Shore of Kauai Island.” – Leahlani

The Mermaid Mask is perfect if you are a first time user because it’s easy to use & gentle on your skin. My skin has always been sensitive to lotions, makeup products, etc. and I haven’t had an issue. – Also, two problem spots I wanted to work on were the dark circles under my eyes & my greasy forehead. I have noticed a HUGE improvement in both areas!

img_1214

The best part is you don’t need a lot either when applying. I know for me when I was looking online at products the containers looked really small – this is not the case. It’s super affordable and the sizes are perfect. Like I said, I’ve been using it for a month now and I still have a full jar. It comes with a little spoon as well so you don’t have to guess how much to scoop out.

img_0708

Just add a little bit of water and apply! Most times I leave mine on for 15-20 mins, but there really is no wrong answer. Enjoy it with a glass of wine, or while you clean the house, up to you! I think it’s beneficial to not only do something good for your skin, but to take time out of your busy day to do something for YOU. It may seem like a little thing to do for yourself, but the first thing to get pushed to the side is our own personal health. If masking two nights a week helps you feel better -DO IT. Everyone benefits.

Thanks for hanging out with me and I hope you enjoyed my quick little review! I’ll be sure to update you with more products and routines in the future! I’d love to hear what products you use and love in the comments or head over to my Instagram & let me know there!

Always,

– Tara

Why Do You Blog?

Lately, I have been getting a lot of questions on why I started my blog. The most common questions are, “What made you want to start a blog?” Or “What do you blog about?” So I decided to share with everyone on WHY I started mine and hopefully inspire others who have been thinking about doing it! (FYI: Just JUMP IN!)

I have always had the creative bug. I enjoy writing, planning any type of event or party, and sharing new things with others. As I got older, this part of me got lost in the shuffle but I realized pretty quickly I wasn’t happy without my creative space.

Work, school, relationships, and family can get busy. It becomes easy to push the things that make us happy or feel good to the side. I don’t know why this happens, but I know it happened to me. MAYBE we just get so wrapped up in pleasing others or hitting a work goal, that we loose sight of what WE need to keep us balanced.

So, one day about a year and a half ago I decided to start my Lifestyle Blog (in true procrastinator fashion I started it 6 months ago). Now, I didn’t start my blog because I thought my life was super exciting, I started it for the exact opposite! I got in a funk. All I did was work, eat, sleep, repeat. I needed to create a space that was fun and enjoyable for me (stress is a real thing) and in doing so, I realized that I was helping others who were feeling the same.

My advice is this; -If you want to start a blog do it! Some people won’t understand and that is perfectly fine. Write about what you know and like. You will be surprised by how many others find joy and inspiration from your post (you included). If you just like reading them that’s fine too!

-Sorry, if this post seems a little short, I just wanted to give a better idea of why IFYOUSEEKTARA was created! I am looking forward to sharing more with everyone!

I hope you have a fantastic Sunday!

Always,

Tara

My 3 Step Fitness Routine

I think I finally have a routine and the gym! If you have been following me on my Instagram you probably have witnessed my many Instagram Story gym sessions. Which mostly consists of photos or boomerangs. -Lol

Even though I try to go at least 3 days a week, I never really had a routine while I was there. I always would go to the treadmill and afterwards be done. I think it was mostly because I didn’t know what machines to use or how to use them? BUT with a little help I caught on pretty quick.

If you are reading this going – “I am the same way.” I would recommend asking someone who works at the gym how to use the machine or going with a friend so you can both learn together ( its less embarrassing with a buddy – LOL). Below, I am going to share my recent routine with you and REAL photos. These are not staged so judgement free zone. – I can’t always look good 🙂 J/K

STEP 1.

When I get to the gym I start with either the treadmill or elliptical for 25 mins. Now, you can make this as easy or as hard as you want. I generally do a fast paced walk on an incline, however, if you want to run that’s fine too.

STEP 2.

After my 25 minute walk/run & depending on what day it is, I’ll workout my upper body (chest & arms) or lower body (legs and butt). I usually do another 10-15 minutes working out these areas. As far as how much weight to use, that’s completely up to you and how much you are comfortable with. I stick to 30-40 pounds. You don’t want to over due it or hurt yourself, but you still want to sweat a little.

STEP 3.

My final step while at the gym is stretching. Most gyms have a designated area for this, usually with mats available. I don’t have a specific amount of time for stretching. Sometimes I incorporate Yoga moves to push my workout a little more, other times I just cool down.

After that I’m done! Since doing this routine I have lost 5 pounds in about 2 weeks. I also haven’t changed my diet (I love food too much) however, I will most likely change up this routine to push myself and try for better results. BUT we all have to start somewhere! As someone who doesn’t really enjoy working out, I know that just doing it is an accomplishment.

-Oh and make sure you have a good playlist! I swear it makes a HUGE difference in your mood when working out.

Thanks for hanging out guys! If you’ve been wanting to workout more I hope this helped you. Tag me on Instagram & we can cheer each other on!

Always,

Tara

Does This Ring Make Me Look Engaged?

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I feel like November is just flying by, don’t you? Christmas will be here before we know it, but don’t worry if you haven’t started shopping, I plan on posting some more holiday gift guides soon!

Anyway….. a couple weeks ago I went to Denver for the first time and it was amazing! So I thought I would share some photos with you and some things we did while we were there. It was a short trip, only four days, but still fun.

Right when we landed we got our rental car and headed to the Red Rock Amphitheater. I have to be honest with you, once we got there I felt so sick. Elevation is a real thing. BUT I did my best to be a trooper and hang out. ( I did end up going back to the hotel to sleep)

After walking around and hanging out at the Red Rocks, we stopped at Roof Top Tavern. It was literally right around the corner in a little town with other bars and shops.

Roof Top Tavern

The second day we got up early and drove to The Rocky Mountains National Park. It was about an hour drive from our hotel, but the view while driving makes up for it.

The park is beautiful. Some parts had snow while others didn’t.

Ryan wanted to see wild life the whole time we were there, while I was terrified to see anything. Lol, I didn’t want to meet anything big and wild. However, we did see some deer at the park, which I was ok with.

While we were at the park we decided to do a little hike along Bear Lake Trail. It was beautiful! It was covered in snow, and you hike the loop around a lake.

& here folks is where it happened! I GOT ENGAGED! That’s right after five years of dating he finally popped the question! The photo below we took right after he got down on his knee. ( Awwww!)

A women walking the trail with her son stopped & took our picture because she said she saw us & we “looked too cute”. ( the snow was falling which makes the photo look grainy)

& thats pretty much all folks! It was a great time and I would definitely recommend visiting if you haven’t already. I’m sure I’ll be posting more photos on Instagram ( so go follow @ifyouseektara ) Thanks for hanging out and reliving our trip with me!

I can’t wait to start writing about wedding stuff….. haha too soon?! I do plan on going back so if you live there or have visited before I’d love to hear your recommendations.

Always,

Tara

Halloween Vibes

Hey everyone!

Can you believe that it’s already November?! I don’t know about you, but I’m already starting to feel the pressure. Getting the house ready, food menus, and of course hanging with FAMILY. 🙂 I know too much, right?

Don’t worry we have some time still. For right now, lets grab ourselves a drink and enjoy each other’s company. 🙂

So Halloween was not that long ago, and I wanted to jump on here real quick and share my DIY Costume I did this year! I always dress up, which could be because I bartender for seven years, and well… you dress up in a bar! ( Tips, ya know)

Anyway, now I work in an office, so my costume choices have changed to say the least, but I still enjoy it. So this year I decided to be Mary Poppins!

I went with the bag instead of the umbrella.

I did eventually decorate my hat, which I think made a big difference!

It was super cute and fun to do! I also posted some fun boomerangs and video’s on my Instagram! ( So if you missed it, make sure to go FOLLOW me on there!)

I bought all the pieces separately, which I am going to link below for you! The shoes I already had, which are from DSW!
